Tata Nano : My First Impression

The recently launched Tata Nano which created quite a stir throughout the country was today showcased at our office.
Though people were allowed to site in the car to get a feel of it none were allowed to test drive it. But bookings were open for the employees.
So I thought why not go and get a glimpse of the car which caused so much of a headline.
And here i present to you the Tata Nano pictorial view (presented from the outlook of an casual onlooker) :
Now let’s take a look under the hood…
Now you might be wondering as to what happened to the engine. Well the engine’s at the back and you need to remove the rear seat to access it.
Lets take a look at the interiors…
Now what puzzled me was that the dashboard has only a speedometer. No indicators for Fuel and Engine temperature. So what then. If am not wrong then the small (LCD ?) display panel to the right is the one which i think is going to provide those (and maybe some extra ?) vital information.
And lastly the rear view…
The bumper materials are made of fibre but not of a very good quality. I have seen the quality of the bumper materials on Maruti Alto, Wagon-R and all but feel that this is where it can be improved. The material with which the doors are made are a bit hardy and of better quality than the material used just above the area of the wheels, cos if you tap them you can definitely feel the difference in material density.
All said and done it feels like people are doing the wait-and-watch game aka let someone else buy it before I invest in it.
So if you do buy it, then do share your inputs here. You are most welcome to do so.

The recession doesn’t seem to have affected the tummies of TCS employees.
